What are your expectations for this course?
The knowledge, understanding, and the application of 21st Century skills are the elements for the establishment of a diverse and rigorous instructional setting. From this course, I expect to learn and be able to implement a technologically infused science curriculum. I believe that through the explorations and assignments required in this course, I will be able to create and utilize digital tools designed to increase the critical thinking and problem solving skills, oral and written communication skills, and collaboration across social networks of all my students. Furthermore, from the knowledge gained from this course, I expect to become a more effective instructional leader within my school district.
What knowledge and skills do you hope to gain?
Learning outcomes such as the ability to participate in an online, professional, learning community, creating and presenting digital lessons, and facilitating online course instruction are a few of my desired learning experiences. Through this course, I believe that the interactions between the other cohort members will provide a unique, collaborative grouping that will generate both positive and proactive ideas. As I reflect upon the Capstone Introductory course assignments, I feel confident that I will acquire the ability to create and present effective digitized science lessons. Although this course may not specifically serve as an instructional course for online instruction, I will definitely be able to integrate the online set-up for my future as an online instructional facilitator.
How will this professional development experience shape your future classroom instruction?
As the school improvement lead teacher, 21st Century program coordinator, Intervention and Enrichment coordinator, and eighth science teacher, I plan to integrate the knowledge and skills that I obtain from this learning experience into every facet of my professional life. I plan to glean educational nuggets from every source studied and every assignment completed. As a licensed administrator, I will one day be employed as an assistant principal and I will be able to facilitate the integration of NETS*T standards into the instructional practices of other teachers and staff members. As my knowledge and comfort level of technology increase, I can only imagine the wealth of knowledge that this educational opportunity will provide for my future in education.
